Gluten Free, Non-Allergenic Remyflo C0200T Offers Excellent Digestibility
FAIRFIELD, NJ, August, 27, 2008 - Remyflo C0200T, a new non-allergenic, gluten-free organic brown rice flour is now available from A&B Ingredients, a leading solutions supplier of rice-based products and value-added ingredients. Remyflo C0200T is particularly well suited for such applications as special diets and baby foods, snacks and breakfast cereals, bakery products, pancake mixes, soups and sauces, as well as dairy desserts.
Remyflo C0200T, manufactured by Beneo Remy, is rice flour that is produced by grinding and sieving of clean, organic whole brown rice in the hygienic conditions without the use of irradiation. The new organic brown rice flour is stabilized through a proprietary process which reduces Lipase activity without affecting the nutritional value of the flour. Remyflo C0200T is available as a standard grade and pre-gelatinized (PREL).
In making the announcement, Gil Bakal, A&B Ingredients Managing Director said, "We are particularly pleased to add Remyflo C0200T to our line of rice-based products. Study after study continues to show the dietary benefits of rice flour as an excellent nutritional source containing superior amino acid composition and excellent digestibility."
In particular, Bakal pointed to a recent study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, and appears on the George Mateljan Foundation website, which draws attention to "the importance of choosing whole grains such as brown rice rather than refined grain, i.e., white rice, to maintain a healthy body weight." The study was undertaken by the Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital which gathered data from more than 74,000 female nurses ages 38 to 63 over a 12 year period. "The research showed that weight gain was inversely associated with the ingestion of high-fiber, whole-grain foods but positively related to the intake of refined-grain foods. Not only did women who consumed more whole grains consistently weigh less than those who ate less of these fiber-rich foods, but those consuming the most dietary fiber from whole grains were 49% less likely to gain weight compared to those eating foods made from refined grains."
Bakal added that the FDA has approved the whole-grain health claim for brown rice flour, recognizing it as a 100% whole-grain.
